What is the EmscherOffRoad event?
EmscherOffRoad is a supported one-day offroad ride for Gravel and MTB XC. Across the former industrial area of the "Ruhrgebiet", our tracks contain multiple stock piles ("Halden") and industrial culture views. All routes feature various surfaces. In addition to a few tarmac transfer sections, you can expect mainly well-gravelled paths. But there are also some technical sections with loose or coarse gravel, as well as rooty and possibly muddy single trails.
When does the event take place?
The event is scheduled for July 6th, 2025. Openig at 07:30 am and the event ends at 04:30 pm.
Time slots:
Ultimate: Joint start at 08:00 am.
Grinder: Joint start at 08:30 am.

How long are the routes?
Is there a timekeeping?
No, as our gravel ride is not a race! Please avoid conflicts and be mindfull of other people using the same routes.
How can I register?
Registration is done online for all four categories. Please recognise, online registration is only availible online until June 30th, 2025 and only limited slots are offered for Grinder & Ultimate. For Basic and Advanced an "event-day registration" will additionally be availible for 25,00 EUR.
How much does it cost to participate?
Participation fees differ for each category. For details please check our registration page.

Is there a limit on the number of participants?
Yes - in order to guarantee the high quality of the event we are striving for, the number of participants for the Grinder & Ultimate category is limited and only online registration is possible until 30 June 2025. For Basic and Advanced we also offer an ‘event day registration’ for 25,00 EUR.
Can I cancel my registration?
Yes, but please note that in case of your cancellation there will be no refund of the participation fee. Therefore, please only register, if you are sure that you want to take part.
Which bike do I need?
A gravel or MTB XC bike is recommended. Cyclocross bikes are also possible. But Road or Trekking bikes are not suitable, as many passages are unpaved and some technical passages are included.
What additional equipment do I need?
A helmet is mandatory, participation without is impossible. We recommend a spare tube, pump, multitool and weather-appropriate clothing.
Additionally we also recommend to start with sufficient liquids and some emergency backup carbs. You can refill your bottles and refuel yourself at our well equiped refreshment stations.
Do I need a navigation device?
Yes – the routes are only provided via GPX-track. But there will be supporting markings in unpaved terrain, such as red/white barrier tapes and orange sprayed arrows.

What is about food?
Included in the fees are a) a starter coffee offered in the morning, b) on the routes there are two refreshment stations providing snacks and water (depending on your category of choice, the track might lead you along one or both refreshment stations more than once) and c) back at the event location a finischer beverage and a meal are waiting for you.
Do you also offer vegan and vegetarian options?
Yes, both refreshment stations as well as the event location will offer vegan and vegetarian snacks or food.
What happens in case of bad weather?
The ride basically takes place at all 'normal' weather conditions. In life-threatening events (e.g. storms), we reserve the right to cancel.
Do I have the opportunity to clean my bike after the ride?
Yes, there will be a bike wash spot.
Is it possible to change and shower after the tour?
Yes, changing rooms and showers will be available.
Is there a service for emergencies?
For real emergencies, when either you or your bike are not able to make it back to the event location, a service vehicle is availible.
Is there an age limit?
Yes, participation in the Grinder and Ultimate categories is only allowed for adults (18 years). In the Basic and Advanced categories, persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
